Ben Carlson to race Superbikers
race in Belgium.
September 26, 2002
By Glenn Curtiss
17 year old Wisconsin rider Ben Carlson is getting a
chance to shine. And he gets this chance to shine while
riding in front of some fairly big players in Europe.
Along with the help of Paul Brent of Moto-Master USA,
David Lippett from the UK, and SuperBikers2 LLC, Ben
will be participating in the Superbikers race in Mettet,
Belgium over the weekend of October 12-13, 2002. He
will be riding a Husaberg 650 in the Superbikers class.
This class see a huge number of entrants. The entry
numbers generally top 600 riders and that has to be
narrowed down to 42 riders by Sundays finals.
That means that finishing mid-pack is not an option
if your plans are to make it into the big races on Sunday.
Other US riders making the journey to Mettet will be
Steve Drew, Casey Yarrow (both from CA), and former
World Superbike Champion Scott Russell. I even heard
that Ben Bostrom might even be there, so the US should
be well represented. I will also be traveling with Carlson
and his Mom to help in the pits, take a ton of pictures,
and hopefully make plenty of contacts to help with the
years of racing to come.
Stay tuned for more on the Excellent Adventures
of Ben Carlson in Europe!!
