Steeley
takes on the Irish
Another successful weekend for Mr Steele on his recent
trip to Ireland, a win and a second position was gained
by the awesome scoucer. Locked up in a tough battle
with the reigning champion, Dave Tougher, Warren was
determined to power his Husky into the lead on every
possible opportunity.
Winning and leading the first final gave Warren a boast
going into the second final. Unfortunately Warren found
himself in a predicament when his bike stalled as he
hit the off road section whilst leading the pack. Thankfully
it restarted on the first kick and he was hunting down
Tougher.
With few laps remaining in the race Steele was unable
to catch the Irish man and had to be content with second
place. With mixed weather all weekend tyre choice was
essential swapping from wets to cut slicks throughout
the day. Torrential downpour one minute and glorious
sunshine the next no one was ever sure what was going
to happen.
Commenting afterwards Warren said 'The racing was really
good. The weather was a bit unpredictable but never
the less it was a good weekend in general. The bike
has been fantastic again and I was really unlucky not
to win in the second race. The track is an old airfield
so the racing was fast and furious which is always good
fun. I'm looking forward to racing in the Europeans
and seeing how I fair up over there.'
Warren's heading overseas for his next race. The first
European round takes place in the Czech Republic on
the 17-18 May 2003. Warren can realistically expect
to finish in the top ten. I look forward to keeping
you up-to-date with his progress throughout the year.
