Superbikers2 ended the 2001 season on a high note with
excellent weather and great racing.

AMA National #33 flat tracker J.R. Schnabel turned out to be the man on a mission this weekend as he won it all on his first visit to these supermotard events.

Starting on the last row in the heat race Schnabel wasted no time taking his Team Powell/Torque Center CR250 Honda to the front. By lap four he was out front and breaking away.

Giving a heated chase was 14 year old Jesse Janisch who started along side Schnabel at the back of the pack. Janisch followed J.R across the line aboard his Midcities Motorsports/Torque Center sponsored CR250.

In the semi final event Scnabel and Janisch started up front and made a break immediately. John Altmann, Shane Myers, Andy Mauk and Ron Zastrow all traded places behind the two flying Honda riders but could not make a challenge.

The final event saw Altmann jump out front at the start and lead through turn 4 when Schnabel went by for the lead. Altmann, aboard theFuel Cafe/S&B Construction 620 KTM
held second until Janisch got by in turn 4 also on lap two. Shane Myers and Ron Zastrow rounded out the top five by lap three.

Schnabel almost lost the lead and race when he got into a wicked slide exiting turn 6 and nearly high sided on lap four. The talented dirt tracker shook off the incident though and put his head down and increased his lead. Janisch was trying hard to close the gap and had some
moments of his own. Running deep into the corners Jesse was trying not to use up the under powered front brakes he's not used to using on the dirt ovals and motocross tracks he
normally races on.

The young gun, who hopes to go roadracing in a couple of years, finished second again to Schnabel but had a ball doing it. Altmann took his KTM home third followed by 360
Husky mounted Shane Myers and 400 Yamaha rider Andy Mauk.
